It all started exactly 5 years ago when Tom Baier , Stefan Pape and I first came to Lithuania to dive the SMS Friedrich Carl. Tom, with his fantastic eye for wrecks and details, only needs to dive a wreck once and he can not only give an exact description of the wreck, but can usually tell you exactly what kind of ship it is and when it sank.
He is usually the first to inspect the new wrecks. He is usually accompanied by Stefan Pape. Stefan is our professional for video documentation of the wrecks. His films are fantastic. Since we often find large amounts of old and new nets on the wrecks, we need a professional for the recovery of these ghost nets and that is Tom Kürten in our team. Tom leads the challenging net salvage project weeks and is also an experienced wreck diver who does important work in identification and documentation.
At the latest when the nets are removed from the wreck Holger Buss is in his element. He surveys the wrecks, writes prospecting reports and rummages in archives and attics until he has solved the last riddles of our mysterious wrecks. Recently he has been working on 3D models and it is incredible what he creates.
Andrey Govorov and Vadim Kutokov are two other very important members of our team. They are fantastic divers and very versatile. No matter if Holger needs help with surveying, Tom needs help with the nets or I need someone for the lighting, they are there and do a fantastic job.
Since the last project week, Andreas Küver and Eckhard Becker have also joined the team. Thanks to Andreas we are now also actively involved in water analysis.
Last but not least there are Rolandas Schoen and Renaldas Dėringis who support us with equipment maintenance and help on board.
I am very proud to be part of such a great team!!!! THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!
